I am thrilled that my film strip art quilt
is included in this exhibit

MOVIE MEMORIES
Textile Art Quilt 15" x42"

Next to my passion for art, is my love of films, so I immediately knew I would create a film strip art quilt for this theme.
I couldn't let it be too tall, so selected just five favorite film stars.

Charlie Chaplain is my favorite actor and is perfect to start our film journey.

From silent black and white movies, to the first westerns with Bronco Billy, which were filmed just a few miles from where I live, in historic Niles California.

Next we see film noir, with Hollywood legend Bette Davis.

Romantic comedy was the rage in the 1960s, seen here, in my quilt , with beloved actress, Audrey Hepburn, in Breakfast At Tiffany's.

And lastly, wonderful song and dance musicals with child star Shirley Temple are timeless.

I handstitched the background in each frame. to capture the translucent quality of a film strip, and also a feeling of nostalgia for the creative hand craftsmanship in early productions.

I am so pleased to share this brief film journey with you.

STITCHING CALIFORNIA, the exhibit:
The exhibit includes 41 pieces of textile art including 3 dimensional fiber sculptures. You will see vibrant landscapes, colorful figures representing the diverse cultures, abstract interpretaions of the Bay and cityscapes, emotional illustrations of the recent fires, and much more.
